Boron Carbide

Boron Carbide is a hard specialty ceramic product formed as a result of the reaction of boron trioxide and carbon in an electric arc furnace. Ranking alongside cubic boron nitride and diamond as one of the hardest materials available, Boron Carbide has many uses due to its high hardness of Mohs 9.3+, true density of 2.52 g/cm3, wear resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical inertness.

Boron Carbide has a number of industrial applications, including body, vehicle, and tile armor, wear parts such as blasting nozzles, dressing sticks, ceramic forms, refractory additives, wire-saw slicing of sapphire, neutron absorption, and as a sintering aid.
