Sinter Grade Boron Carbide

Sinter Grade Boron Carbide (B4C) covers two powders built for pressureless sintering. Submicron sinterable B4C is milled and treated to exacting specifications to reach the highest density in ceramic components, with the hardness-to-weight ratio the armor industry depends on. Particle size, size distribution and chemistry are tailored to each customer's sintering process.

Sinterable B4C is available in a wide variety of sizes and purities. Contact our team with your application and we will work together to find the best solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

It removes oxygen during sintering, which helps silicon carbide densify. It is typically added at 1–2% by weight, not by volume.

Sinter grade is submicron so it densifies without applied pressure. Hot press grade is coarser, because pressure during firing closes the porosity.

Yes. Submicron B4C can be blended with sinterable SiC to produce B4C/SiC composites.

Yes. Share your current specification or densification process and we will tailor sizing, surface area and chemistry.
